Gonzales, Rivera and Yniguez Named All-OEC, Dons Finish Season in SoCal Regionals

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Jeana Gonzales, Karlee Rivera and Nicole Yniguez were named to the 2019 All-Orange Empire Conference teams while leading Santa Ana to a SoCal Regional Playoff berth.

Gonzales was one of the most productive hitters in the conference and posted a team high .398 average while racking up 18 RBI's. The sophomore from Valencia High made the first team in her second season with the Dons.

With 17 wins on the year, Nicole Yniguez emerged as the Dons go to arm after transferring to Santa Ana for her sophomore season. Yniguez finished the year with a 2.39 ERA and an even 100 strikeouts on her way to a first team All-OEC selection.

And Karlee Rivera ended her Santa Ana career with .336 batting average as a sophomore while leading the team in RBI's with 22.  She earned second team honors, giving her two All-OEC selections as a Don.

The Dons leaned on these sophomores as they worked their way into a SoCal Regionals as the No. 11 seed. Santa Ana traveled to play No. 6 Antelope Valley last week but came up short with a 2-0 series loss, ending their season with a 24-16, 12-9 record.
