
SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Softball completed a three game sweep of the Riverside City Tigers (14-26, 4-14) with a 5-4 win on Sophomore Day.
The Dons (14-26, 3-15) came back from a 3-0 deficit thanks to timely hitting and offensive execution.
In the first, Julia Ariston scored the first run for SAC thanks to an errant throw on a pick-off attempt by the Tigers. In the next inning, the Dons tied the score after Kaitlin Murphy singled through the right side to drive home Amaya Armenta and Giordana Tully with two outs.
Yasmine Garcia layed down a beautiful squeeze bunt to score the go-ahead run as Kaitlyn Martinez came home in the bottom of the third. SAC was able to score once more in the sixth, which turned out to be an important insurance run to seal the game.
Julia Ariston and Kalani Gonzales combined to go the full seven. As a staff they gave up four runs but none were earned while striking out four. Gonzales picked up her sixth win of the season after throwing the final four and two third innings.
The Dons are set to bring back a good group of freshman such as Gonzales, Garcia, Gracie Barrios for the 2026 season.
