Coach Reyes Optimistic about Start of 2013 Men's Swimming Season

SANTA ANA - There may not be much recent history on their side, but the men's swimming team has returned to the pool and this year's group of swimmers is looking to make their own history.

As a team, head coach Al Reyes sees the Dons finishing somewhere in the middle of the pack, behind perennial juggernauts Golden West College, Orange Coast College and Riverside City College.

"After the top three," said Reyes. "There is definitely a battle for fourth place between us and Saddleback."

But the Dons success doesn't stop there, according to Reyes. While he wants to see each of his swimmers set, at least, personal records, he sees a few school records that might fall this season.

Reyes added that Nick Beavers and Micah Mathis are two Dons that can compete in the Orange Empire Conference Championships as well as at the state level. He also sees Duncan Wilson as a swimmer who has potential to "sneak in there as well."

The Dons kick off the 2013 season on February 8 at Golden West College.
