Marquez Sets Third Highest Mark in SAC History as Six Dons Qualify for 2011 SoCal Prelims

Six members of the Santa Ana College (SAC) women's track & field team qualified for the 2011 California Community College Athletic Association Track & Field Southern Regional Finals held at Mt. San Antonio College May 6 and May 13.

The Dons who qualified did so following their performances at the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships held over the past two weekends at Riverside College.

Susana Marquez led the way as she qualified for the SoCal Finals with her second place finish in the 10,000 meter run. Her time also put her into the SAC record books as she turned in the third fastest time in college history.

Joining Marquez in the 10,000 meter run is teammate Saira Perez who finished seventh in the OEC Finals. Venny Van and Cecilia Chavez will also compete for the Dons after each took sixth place in their respective competitons, Van in the 400 meter run and Chavez in the 400 meter hurdles.

On the field, the Dons will be represented by Atu Faleola and Priscilla Felix. Faleola will compete in the shot put following her eighth place finish while Felix will compete in the hammer throw (fourth) and the discus throw (seventh).
