Dons Host Golden West & Orange Coast in Track

SANTA ANA - The Dons welcomed Golden West College and Orange Coast College to John Ward Track & Field for an Orange Empire Conference meet on February 26. The women were led by Toni Lopez while the men were led by Alexander Griffith.

Lopez took second place in the two events she competed in with times of 2:29.7 in the 800 meter run and 4:57.51 in the 1500 meter run. Lizeth Luciano joined her in both races taking third in the 800 (2:32.44) and fourth in the 1500 (5:12.89).

On the men's side, Griffth finished second in the discus throw with a distance of 33.10 meters while finishing third in the javelin throw and fourth in both the shot put and hammer throw. His distance in the javelin was 35.79 while he threw 10.72 meters in the shot put and 26.59 meters in the hammer.

In the men's running events, Edwin Ortiz-Lopez posted a pair of third place finishes in the 800 meter run (2:03.14) and the 1500 meter run (4:13.05) while Juan Figueroa took fourth in the 400 meter dash. Adrian Hernandez and Brian Ambrocio joined Ortiz-Lopez in the 1500 meter run, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
