Moreno Wins OEC Championship in 400M Hurdles

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Octavio Moreno broke his own personal record with a time of 53:56 to become the first Santa Ana College Orange Empire Conference Champion in the 400 meter hurdles since Nick Falcioni won it in 2006.

With a 53:56 time, Moreno has not only qualified for the 2019 CCCAA SoCal Trials on Saturday, May 4th, but he has also taken over the second best time in school history, just behind Marshall McDonald, who posted a time of 53.30 back in 1967.

The sophomore from Anaheim High also placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.57.

Santa Ana also saw Giovanni Barajas excel in long distance events as he placed second in the 1,500M at 4:07.78 and third in the 5K with a time of 16:04.80.

On the women's side, Monique Azpeitia took the highest place for the Dons, placing fifth in the 800M race at 2:30.36.

Santa Ana will head to post-season action with the CCCAA SoCal Trials on Saturday, May 4th at Riverside College.
