Berlin Ohanesian was named First-Team All-Orange Empire Conference while Ashley Whisler was named Second-Team after both players finished in the top-four in scoring in the conference.
Carly Ducat led the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds with teammate Ashley Whisler matching her with 17 points. The Dons led 62-60 with 19 seconds left but were unable to hold on for the win.
After holding a two-point lead at the break, the Dons were outscored by 12 points in the second half. The loss drops the Dons to 0-4 in the conference.
The Dons are now 0-2 in Orange Empire Conference play after falling to visiting Irvine Valley College 80-63. The loss came despite Berlin Ohanesian scoring a game-high 27 points.
The Dons lost their second-straight game in their host tournament, this time to Long Beach City College in the third place game. Overall, Merced defeated Moorpark for the tournament title.
The Dons held a 10-point lead at the half and continued to lead by double digits until the final five minutes before holding on for the 60-55 win to advance in the championship brackets.
Starting Thursday, November 29, the Dons will host the 2012 Santa Ana College Tournament featuring Bakersfield College, College of the Desert, Long Beach City College, Merced College, Mira Costa College, Moorpark College and San Diego Mesa College.
After trailing by 21 points with 8:51 left, the Dons battled back and had a three-point attempt to tie the game as time expired in their 54-51 loss to Palomar College.
Following the 2011-12 season, Janelle Flores and Anna Nguyen were named First-Team All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC). The pair represent the Dons first All-OEC honors since the 2009-10 season.
The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's basketball team defeated Orange Coast College 61-53 for its first Orange Empire Conference win since 2009. The win also snapped the Dons 21-game losing streak to the Pirates.
