Whisler's 29 Points Helps Dons to 93-78 Win Over Bakersfield College

SANTA ANA - The Dons cruised to a 93-78 victory over Bakersfield College to earn their first home victory of the season. The win lifts the Dons into a winning record at 4-3 while Bakersfield falls to 1-4. The Dons now have over a week-long break with their next game coming on December 5 against MiraCosta College in the first game of the Dons own tournament.

The Dons utilized 44% shooting in the first half, along with 50% shooting on three-pointers, while also converting 17-of-20 free throws to build a 50-38 lead at the half. Both Jazmine Johnson and Ashley Whisler scored 16 points in the first half, helping the Dons to the 12-point lead.

The second half found the Dons shooting even better as they improved their shooting percentage to 52% while building several leads of at least 20 points. While the Dons three-point shooting dropped off in the second half, they continued to capitalize on free throw shooting as the Dons converted 15-of-21 free throws in the second half.

Whisler added another 13 points to her performance as she led all scorers with 29 points while Johnson followed with 20 points. Despite scoring 93 points as a team, only one more Don scorer, Kelly Smit, scored in double digits as the sophomore guard had 10 points. However, all but two Dons scored in the lopsided victory.
