Dons Complete Season Sweep of Fullerton College with 84-73 Win

SANTA ANA - Led by 35 points from Ashley Whisler, the Dons completed the season sweep of Fullerton College with an 84-73 victory at home. With the win, the Dons are now 13-10 overall and 3-4 in conference while Fullerton falls to 5-17 and 1-6.

The Dons overcame an early deficit in the first half to take a 33-32 lead into the break. Fullerton led by as many as 10 points when Kelli Calton's three-pointer put the Hornets up 23-13 with 10:13 left in the half.

The teams went on to trade the lead several times late before Carly Ducat tied the game at 32-32 with Vanessa Ramirez' free throw putting the Dons up by one right before the half.

The Hornets quickly reclaimed the lead when they opened the second half with a Noelle Cobb three-pointer. The teams continued to trade the lead up to a 38-38 tie. Whisler broke that tie with a jumper with 16:48 left, putting the Dons on top for good at 40-38.

Fullerton would get as close as one point once for the remainder of the game, but the Dons wouldn't surrender the lead as they went on to the 11-point victory.

Whisler's 35 points came on 11-for-18 shooting including 5-for-11 from three-pointers. Carly Ducat chipped in another 15 points and 10 rebounds while Jazmine Johnson scored 10 points.
