Turnovers Doom Dons in 84-70 Loss to Fullerton

SANTA ANA - The Dons were upset at home by Fullerton College 84-70 after committing 30 turnovers. The loss drops the Dons to 13-7 overall and 2-2 in conference while Fullerton picked up its first Orange Empire Conference win. The Hornets (5-11, 1-3) took advantage of the Dons turnovers as they scored 28 points off the 30 turnovers. 

The Dons held an early 18-16 lead after the first quarter before Fullerton outscored the Dons 25-17 in the second quarter to take a 41-35 lead at halftime. The Dons got two points back in the third quarter, outscoring Fullerton 17-15, before the Hornets closed out the game with a 10-point advantage in the final quarter.

Blaysen Varnadoe was the leading scorer for the Dons with 25 points, while also grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds, while Taylor Ivicevic added 19 points and 12 rebounds. For Fullerton, Emilee Dy had the hot hand as she scored a game-high 35 points with Nancy De La Cruz scoring 13 points and Melissa Madrigal and Mika Wilson each scoring 11 points.
