Ventura, Varnadoe Score 19 Points Each in Second Home Conference Win Over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA- The Dons (12-8, 2-2) defeated the Orange Coast College Pirates (13-9, 1-3) in their second Orange Empire Conference win 92-81. Sophomores Blaysen Varnadoe and Jen Ventura led the team by scoring 19 points each.

Jen Ventura opened the game with a jump shot followed by layup from sophomore Taylor Ivicevic.  To seal the lead at the end of the half, Sophomore Amy Tavalou scored two more points for the Dons to end the second quarter with a 54-33 lead over Orange Coast.

Sophomore Lauren Fruto led the team with three assists and Blaysen Varnadoe had eight rebounds in the first half.

During the second half of the game, Jen Ventura and Taylor Ivicevic opened the third quarter by scoring two points each for Santa Ana College. Sophomore Alysia Gamboa from Centennial High School had two steals in the second half and sophomore Tori Liebel scored eight points and had four rebounds for the Dons. SAC sealed the conference win over the Orange Coast College Pirates 92-81.

Women's basketball will play again in their next Orange Empire Conference game on Friday, Jan. 20, against Saddleback College at Santa Ana College at 5 p.m.
