Dons Edged out by IVC in Orange Empire Game

SANTA ANA- The Dons fell to the Irvine Valley College Lasers in their seventh Orange Empire Conference game 70-63. Sophomore Amy Talavou scored a game high of 17 points with three assists and had seven rebounds.

Sophomore Lauren Fruto scored the first two points for the Dons to open the first quarter, and then Amy Tavalou scored six consecutive points right behind her. Following Talavou, sophomores Jen Ventura and Taylor Ivicevic scored back to back three point jump shots. Ventura also tallied three steals for the Dons.

Taylor Ivicevic opened the second half with a layup followed by sophomore Tori Liebel from Yorba Linda High School with making a three point jump shot. Ivicevic led the team with 10 rebounds.

The Dons were 71.4% in their free throw average and had a total of 43 rebounds. SAC also lead Irvine Valley with 43 points off the paint.

Women's basketball will play again in their next Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Fullerton College at 7 p.m.
