Offensive Woes Lead to Dons Loss Against Moorpark

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Women's Basketball team hosted Moorpark College in the semi-finals of their annual tournament on Friday night. Moorpark would take the 63-38 win over the Dons to advance to the championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Santa Ana, now 4-4 on the year, just could not get their offense going in this one, finishing with a field goal percentage of 24.5 while also turning over the ball 23 times. The loss snaps their four-game winning streak after starting the season 0-3.

A bright spot for the Dons was the play of sophomore guard Alexis Smith who came off the bench to lead the Dons in scoring with nine points and five rebounds in just 17 minutes of playing time. Gianna Luna, a freshman point guard, also had a solid game with eight points, two assists and three rebounds.

With the loss, the Dons will return on Saturday to play for third place against Bakersfield College at 2:00 p.m.
