Santa Ana Falls Short in OEC Matchup Against Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Despite another double-double from forward Alexis Casillas, the Santa Ana Women's Basketball team dropped a pivotal Orange Empire Conference game against the Cypress Chargers by a score of 74-59.

Casillas posted her ninth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the loss against the Chargers. Cheryl Caldera was the only other Don to reach double digits in scoring, as she went for 15 points and three rebounds.

The Dons struggled on offense throughout the night, shooting 37.9 percent from the field and 20.8 percent from the three-point line. Santa Ana also committed 20 turnovers and was outrebounded 45-38.

Fourth place Santa Ana drops to 9-10, 4-3 while the Chargers move into sole possession of second place at 14-7, 6-1.

Santa Ana will look to bounce back in a road game against Fullerton College on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. In their first matchup, the Dons took the win by a score of 70-67.
