Three Dons Selected to CCCWBCA Academic All-State Team

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Three members of the Santa Ana College 2017-18 women's basketball team have been selected to the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA) Academic All-State team.

Alexis Smith, Brianna Sanchez and Sally Morris were selected among the 41 nominations from 23 different California community colleges.

Qualifications for nominees include playing in one or more seasons, completing 24 units and maintaining at least a 3.5 grade point average.

"We are so incredibly proud of Alexis, Sally and Brianna. They are perfect examples of what student-athletes truly are. Their dedication, leadership, work ethic and passion show in every aspect of their careers, both on and off the court", Head Coach Flo Luppani said. "Through high academic achievement Alexis was able to secure an academic scholarship to the University of La Verne, where we are thrilled to be able to see her compete this upcoming season.  I expect the same from Sally and Brianna, as they have put themselves in a position to attend some of the best academic institutions and possibly earn similar scholarships."

Sanchez and Morris (featured left to right) will return to the Dons as sophomores while Smith joins the University of La Verne Leopards for her junior season.

Santa Ana women's basketball will begin the 2018-19 season at home on November 6th against Palomar College at 5:00 p.m.
