Dons Fall Short at Home Against Copper Mountain

 SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana women's basketball team recorded its second highest scoring game of the season with 78 points in Friday's loss to Copper Mountain.

Nyla Bivens hit a career high five three pointers while Danielle Pryor shot 6-7 from the field to finish with 15 points. Cailey Vitug added seven points and nine assists and Lexi Ross went for 16 points to give Santa Ana some much needed offense.

Although the Dons showed improvements on the offensive end, they struggled to guard the Fighting Cacti, conceding 83 points to Copper Mountain, who only averages 64.5 points per game for the season.

Santa Ana held a huge advantage as they turned over the ball just 15 times compared to 22 for Copper Mountain and attempted 12 more shots. But CMC lived inside the paint, shooting 49.2 (32-65) percent from the field while the Dons finished at just 36.4 (28-77) percent.

The Dons drop to 5-16, 1-7 while Copper Mountain progresses to 8-11, 3-5.
