SAC Women’s Basketball  Drops OEC Matchup to Riverside, 73-66

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Despite making 14 three-pointers in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference matchup against Riverside (11-11, 5-4), the Santa Ana Women's Basketball team was defeated by a score of 73-66.

The Dons were just one three away from the single season school record (15 in 2017-2018 vs. Orange Coast) and shot 43.8 percent from downtown against the Tigers.

Freshman guard Heather Matthews made six of those, finishing with 18 points with seven rebounds. Fellow freshman Sophia Escalante scored a team high 22 points and accounted for four threes herself.

Although the Dons made some improvements offensively, they could not keep the Tigers off the boards as they lost the rebound battle 48-34, which was ultimately the difference in the game.

The Dons will play in their last home game of the season on Friday, Feb. 11 against Cypress (14-10, 6-3) at 7:00 p.m.
