Santa Ana Wrestling Dominates with 37-12 Win Over Palomar

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In it's second conference dual of the season, the Santa Ana wrestling team had a dominant performance to defeat the Palomar Comets 37-12.

The Dons won eight of the 10 matchups on the night, starting off with seven straight victories to take a 34-0 lead.

Isaih Calderon, Alireza Kaveh, Andrew Longmore and Benjamin Navarrete all pinned their opponents to pick up wins while Hector Camarena, Christian Hernandez, Daniel Serrano and Joseph Nava Navarrete went the distance to beat their Comet counterparts.

Santa Ana is now 1-1 in the Southern California Wrestling Alliance Southwest and tied for second place.

Before the match, the state rankings were released by California Community College Wrestling with Santa Ana taking the No. 9 spot as a team.

Individually, Isaih Calderon held the highest ranking for the Dons, coming in at No. 2 in the 133 lb class. Behind him was Alireza Kaveh who ranked third in the 141 division while Benjamin Navarrete was placed at No. 5 five in the 149 lb class. Christian Hernandez, Hector Camarena and Jose Mata were all honorable mentions in their respective divisions.

NEXT UP: The Dons will go back on the road for the Cuesta College Tournament on Saturday, October 26th before returning home for their first home conference dual of the season on Wednesday, October 30th against Mt. San Antonio at 7:30 p.m.
