No. 7 SAC Wrestling Falls 30-18 to No. 3 Mt. SAC

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The No. 7 ranked Santa Ana College wrestling team challenged No. 3 Mt. San Antonio in Wednesday night's conference dual.

Santa Ana put up a good fight and took a 18-15 lead after seven bouts. But the Dons failed to win any of the last three, resulting in a 30-18 loss.

Standouts for the Dons included Jose Mata, Alireza Kaveh, Benjamin Navarrete and Daniel Serrano as the four earned points by winning their matches.

Mata gave Santa Ana its first four points, defeating Nicholas Weissinger 14-0 at 133 lbs. Kaveh followed that with a dominating performance to put up six points with a fall in the second round of the 141 lb match. Two matches later, Benjamin Navarrete scored another four points for the Dons as he handled his opponent with a 14-4 victory in the 157 lb class and Serrano recorded the last win for SAC with a 12-4 win at 174 lbs.

The Dons fall to 1-2 in the SCWA Southwest standings and are set to host No. 14 Rio Hondo College in their last home dual of the season on Wednesday, November 6th at 7:30 p.m.
