Santa Ana Women’s Soccer Opens with a 2-0 Shutout Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana Women's Soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout in its opener against Palomar College on Tuesday afternoon.

Leyna Wood and Coco Ortega recorded their first goals of the season with one a piece in the second half to give the Dons the lead. The freshmen forwards scored within three minutes of each other, helping the Dons capture all the momentum and pull away.

After injury held out Santa Ana's projected goalkeeper, sophomore Brianna Ceballos stepped in and earned her first ever win and shutout. She finished with four saves in 90 minutes of play.

Santa Ana will try to stay undefeated when they travel to play Grossmont College on Friday in their second match of the season. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
