Dons Earn 2-2 Tie in Season Finale

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  On Friday afternoon, the Santa Ana women's soccer team hosted the Norco Mustangs in its last game of the 2018 season, which also meant sophomore day for the Dons.

Three sophomores, Alexis Velasquez, Brianna Ceballos and Lizbeth Gonzalez were honored alongside transferring freshman Stephanie Duarte before the match.

The Dons came out with a lot of energy, dominating the game and scoring the first two goals. Lauryn Wood put in her seventh goal of the season on an assist from her sister Leyna in the 29th minute. In the 58th minute, Coco Ortega gave the Dons a 2-0 lead after knocking in a ball for her second goal of the year and giving Gonzalez her fifth assist.

Although Santa Ana controlled the game up to that point, the Mustangs would not go away easily. They fought back with a goal in the 59th minute and tied the score soon after that to make it an intense match down the stretch.

Neither team was able to pull away, ending the match with a 2-2 tie. The Dons finish the season with a record of 5-11-4, 3-10-3.
