Santa Ana Holds Off MiraCosta 2-1 for Second Win of the Year

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Marilyn Miranda came off the bench for the Santa Ana women's soccer team and lifted her team to a 2-1 victory with a go ahead goal in the 69th minute of Thursday's match against MiraCosta College.

Miranda used her fresh legs to press a tired MiraCosta backline, forcing a turnover and giving herself an opportunity to score. She finished the play by chipping a shot that just got over the Spartan goalkeeper for her second goal in a Don uniform.

Leyna Wood recorded her fourth goal of the season in the 51st minute while Stephanie Hernandez picked up her second win at goalkeeper with four saves on the day.

The Dons will get a short break before they host Grossmont College on Friday, September 2nd at 1:00 p.m. Grossmont is currently 0-1 and will face Mt. San Jacinto and Mt. San Antonio before coming to Santa Ana on Friday.
