Dons Volleyball Honors Six at Sophomore Night

SANTA ANA, Calif. – It was a special night for the Santa Ana College Volleyball program, as they honored their sophomores in the final regular season home match of the 2017 season.

The sophomores that were honored included Destinee Blue, Dianna Nguyen, Kassandra Murillo, Kayla Long, Lily Reissmueller and Mikelle Taylor.

After the ceremony, the Dons got back to volleyball and competed against Riverside City College in another Orange Empire Conference match.

The Dons came out hot, feeding off all the emotions of sophomore night, taking the first set 25-23. Riverside responded by taking the second set by the same score.

In the third, the two teams would go back and forth until the Tigers took three consecutive points to earn the 29-27 win. Santa Ana had one more set to take back the momentum, but could not quite do so as they dropped the last set by a score of 25-16.

Despite the loss, the Dons and their sophomores should be proud of all their accomplishments this year. Next, Santa Ana will travel to Orange Coast College to play the Pirates on Wednesday, Nov. 8th and then finish the regular season at Cypress College on Wednesday, Nov. 15th.
