Dons Battle but Can’t Pull Off Upset of No.18 OCC

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana volleyball team battled for four sets with No. 18 Orange Coast on Wednesday night but couldn't pull off the upset, falling 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19) in an Orange Empire Conference contest.

Although the Dons dropped the first two sets, they kept fighting and came up with a 25-20 win in set number three. Despite the late push, Santa Ana was unable to extend the match any further, falling in four.

Sophomore outside hitter Stephanie Ozokwo led the Dons in kills again with 14 and added 12 digs, two aces and two block assists. Hannah DeGrasse had one of her best offensive games, recording 11 kills with three digs, three block assists and a set assist.

Stephanie Huerta was the team leader in digs for the Dons, collecting 21 total while Karissa Mumford and Jasmin Cardona combined for 22 digs and 34 assists.

The Dons will move forward and face Golden West on the road, Friday at 6:00 p.m.
