SAC Drops Two as OEC Play Continues

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Women's Volleyball team dropped both of their matches in week two of Orange Empire Conference play.

On Wednesday, the Dons (5-5, 0-3) tried to get back on track as they hosted the Orange Coast Pirates (10-0, 3-0). Although the Dons improved with every set, they ultimately fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-21).

Kassandra Zavala was the lone Don with double digits in the kills category, going for 11 while posting 11 digs, two aces and two assists. Jaiden Silver pitched in with nine kills and six digs while Kaiden Raif ran the Don offense and finished with 18 assists and 11 digs.

Santa Ana then went on the road on Friday to face off against the Golden West Rustlers (7-1, 1-1) in another OEC matchup.

The Dons battled in this one but just could not hold up as the Rustlers took the match in three by a score of  25-14, 25-13, 25-20.

Golden West proved to be a defensively well coached team as SAC was limited to just 18 kills as a team with no one recording more than five. Kassandra Zavala again posted a team high with five and Adamaris Gomez got in on the action with a season high of four kills.

Taylor Vagana was a bright spot for the Don's as she anchored their defense with 11 digs while adding four aces on to her season total. Angela Hill also had a nice night with eight digs of her own and one ace.

Santa Ana will try to put those matches behind them as they head into a new week. The Dons will host Cypress (11-1, 3-0) in their only contest of the week on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
