No. 7 Seeded Dons End the Year with 3-0 Loss to No. 10 Canyons in Round 2 of SoCal Regionals

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The No. 7 seeded Santa Ana Women's Volleyball team had its season come to an end following a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21) loss to No. 10 College of the Canyons (19-8, 12-0) in round two of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) SoCal Regional Playoffs on Tuesday night.

The Dons (18-6, 11-5) wrapped up one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program with their first playoff appearance since 1983.

Unfortunately, they ran into a very good Canyons team who will now move on to face No. 2 Irvine Valley on Saturday night.

After dropping the first two sets of the match, the Dons seemed to have found some answers as they jumped out to an early lead in the third. Kaiden Raif went on a personal run with four consecutive service aces to push SAC to a 17-10 lead.

But the experienced Cougars found a way to calm the storm and surged back to take an 18-17 lead with an 8-0 run of their own.

The Dons still fought down the stretch but were never able to regain the momentum and ultimately dropped the set by a score of 25-21.
