SANTA ANA - The Dons couldn't have faced a tougher opponent to open their 2012 season then the defending state champions from Riverside City College and it showed in the pool as the visiting Tigers handed the Dons a 21-3 loss in their Orange Empire Conference opener.
After Riverside opened leads of 9-0 in the first quarter and 16-0 at the half, the scoring slowed down as the Tigers managed just three goals in the third. The Dons got on the board in the fourth quarter with two goals from Jasmin Pannier and the third from Nikole Facklam.
Riverside scored one goal during the Dons three-goal spurt before scoring the final goal with just over one minute left in the game to make the final score 21-3.
