Teammates Headed to Aurora University to Compete for Spartans

A pair of runners from the Santa Ana College men's cross country and track & field teams signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Aurora University in Auroa, Illinois. Edward Chanon and Rafael Godinez were joined by Head Coach Miriam Mitzel and Dean of Kinesiology Avie Bridges when they signed their letters of intent.

The two long distance runners will look to help the Spartans compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, a NCAA Division III conference. Last season, the Spartans posted a pair of second place finishes in cross country, including the NACC Championships, while claiming their third straight NACC Championship in track & field.

Godinez was a member of the Dons fourth place team in the 2013 Orange Empire Conference Championships where he finished 37th overall. He improved on his finish in the 2014 OEC Championships with a 31st place finish. Chanon competed in just one season with the Dons, finishing 22nd in the 2014 OEC Championships.
