Dons Cross Country Prevails at the OEC Championships

SANTA ANA- As a team, men's cross country took second place at the Orange Empire Conference Championships at Central Park in Huntington Beach, while the women's cross country team took third place for the Dons.

Sophomore Toni Lopez took second place in the 5K run with a 19:25.2 time. Lizbeth Luciano raced into eighth place with a time of 20:11.1 and Lizeth Luciano-Luis was right behind her in ninth place.

The men's team placed four athletes in the top 13 in the men's four mile run. Sophomore Paulino Sanchez placed in third for Santa Ana College with a time of 21:06.1. Freshman Awal Hussen finished with a 21:22.3 in fifth place. Freshman Dalton Aviles finished hard into seventh place with a time of 21:27.3. To round out the top 13, sophomore Brian Ambrocio sealed in twelfth place at 21:35.5.

Dons cross country will race again on Nov. 4 at the SoCal Finals at Irvine Park at 11:00 a.m.
