Men’s Cross Country Takes 6th Place at the SoCal Finals

SANTA ANA- The Dons hosted the SoCal Finals at Irvine Park in Orange. Santa Ana Men's Cross Country team took 6th place out of 28 teams in the 4 mile run.

Sophomore Paulino Sanchez finished in 7th place out of 197 athletes with a time of 20:49.82 and a 5.12.5 average mile time. Freshman Dalton Aviles from Anaheim High School raced into 19th place for the Dons with a 5:16.9 average mile time and finished with a 21:07.35. Right behind him was freshman Awal Hussen in 30th place and sophomore Brian Ambrocio in 50th place.

In the women's 5K run, sophomore Toni Lopez ran a 6:05 average mile and finished at 18:53.99. Sophomore Lizeth Luciano-Luis was close behind her at 20:21.79 and sophomore Lizbeth Luciano finished with a time of 20:44.04. Unfortunately, the women's cross country team did not place because they needed one more participant in the competition.  

Santa Ana College Cross Country will race next at the State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.
