Barajas Places 2nd at the Palomar Invitational in Season Opener

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Giovanni Barajas fell just short of taking home the top spot in his first race of the 2019 season as the Santa Ana cross country team competed in the Palomar Invitational on Friday morning.

Barajas finished the race with a time of 21:22 to take second place right behind El Camino's Manny Gil, who clocked in at 21:15 to win the meet. His teammate, freshman Corban Pagnotta, also finished in the top 20 with a time of 22:45 to begin his Santa Ana career.

Daisy Tellez led the Don women in their race, coming in 26th place with a time of 23:00. Following her were teammates Paula Alvarez (34th/23:51) and Erika Alvarez (42nd/25:04) in their first race in a Santa Ana uniform.

The Dons will travel south again when they compete in the SoCal Previews on Friday, September 13th at Mission Bay Park in San Diego at 10:00 a.m.
