Men's Golf, Class of 2021

Keith Wyrick collected various awards and tournament wins while playing for the Santa Ana College Men’s Golf team under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach Arline Purtle in 1974 and 1975.

During the 1975 season, Wyrick started to be recognized as one of the best golfers in the state as he won seven tournaments including five
consecutive over a two month span.

As a team, the Dons followed his lead as they won a conferencechampionship and qualified for the Southern California Regional Community College Championships. Santa Ana went on to win that tournament as well to advance to state while Wyrick took the victory as an individual, besting the field by a total of seven strokes.

Prior to the State Championships, Wyrick competed in the State All-Star tournament, which consisted of the 12 best golfers from the North and South regions. Wyrick walked away with yet another victory as he shot a 66 to win by six strokes.

Two days later, he would lead the Dons into the State Championships where they finished fifth overall to end the season.

Following his Santa Ana career, Wyrick continued to be successful as an amatuer, winning several tournaments such as the Order of Merit on the West Coast Amateur Tour, Riverside County Golf Championship and the Tri-County Championship. At the age of 45, Wyrick became a pro and won 80 mini tours throughout the U.S. and Europe while also operating as the Director of Golf at the Newport Beach Golf Course for many years.
