Football, Class of 2003

Estrus Crayton played running back at Santa Ana College from 1989-1990 and still holds eight different records at the school. "Estrus was very special," said Dave Ogas, Crayton's coach at SAC. "I remember hsi first scrimmage here. My son, Mike, was a ball boy for the team and on the way home Mike said, 'Dad, do you know that nobody brought Estrus down in that whole first scrimmage?' The films confirmed it. He was a back that the defense would commit eight men to the line of scrimmage to try to stop him," said Ogas. Crayton piled up 4,062 all-purpose yards and 42 touchdowns in two seasons before transferring to USC.

During his 1992 season at USC, Crayton rushed for 700 yards on 83 carries. In a game against UCLA, he rushed for 140 yards making it his best single-game total. Carl Sawyer, retired JC writer for the Orange County Register, recalls Crayton's abilities, "He was as good a JC player as I'd ever seen. He changed directions, he'd blow your mind with his elusiveness and he was stronger than people thought. He did it all."

Crayton played professionally for the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL and for the Hanau Hawks and the Hamburg Blue Devils in Germany.
