Coach, Men's Basketball, Class of 2006

Dana Pagett spent 15 years pacing the sidelines as the head coach of the men's basketball team, leading the Dons to the state tournament 11 times. He also led the Dons to four conference titles and the school's only state championships (1989-90, 1990-91). Pagett is Santa Ana College 's all-time winningest men's basketball coach with a 323-165 (.662) record and his .662 winning percentage ranks second in SAC history. 

During his career, Pagett was named the Orange County Coach of the Year four times, Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year four times and the California Coach of the Year in 1990-91. 

Pagett coached a number of players who went on to successful careers including fellow SAC Hall of Fame members Corie Blount ( University of Cincinnati , Los Angeles Lakers), Erik Martin ( University of Cincinnati ) and Alonzo Jamison ( University of Kansas ). 

Prior to coaching at SAC, Pagett was an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount (1973-74), Long Beach State (1974-77) and Utah State (1977-82). Pagett was also a graduate assistant coach at the University of Southern California (1972-73). During his time at LB State, the 49ers won three conference championships and while at Utah State the team made two NCAA Tournaments and one trip to the NIT Tournament. 

Pagett's basketball career began as a player, receiving CIF Player of the Year honors while at El Segundo High School. He also played at USC from 1967-71 and was drafted following playing at USC in the fourth round by the Virginia Squires of the American Basketball Association. 

Pagett is also a member of the California Community Colleges Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. 

After leaving the sidelines, Pagett became an exercise science instructor at SAC.
