Hurtado Scores Two as the Dons Defeat the Hawks 3-1

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Iam Hurtado scored two goals in the second half of Santa Ana's match against the Santiago Canyon Hawks to lead the Dons to a 3-1 victory.

The goals came at a crucial time of the match, as the Hawks had tied the score with a penalty kick in the 53rd minute and were riding some momentum.

Santa Ana stuck to the game plan and pulled away for one of the biggest wins of the year, improving their record to 9-1-3, 4-1-3 and landing them in front of the previously third place Hawks.

The Dons have now won five consecutive games to put themselves right back in the mix for an Orange Empire Conference championship.

GAME NOTES

Coach Vasquez has made the move to start Hurtado in the last two games and the decision has paid huge dividends. The sophomore forward has scored his only three goals in those contests to provide a scoring boost for the Dons.

Abel Bautista put away his first goal of the season in the first half on a cross from Paulo Gama in the 24th minute.

Santa Ana will go on the road for the first time since September 6th as they travel to Fullerton on Friday for a rematch against the Hornets.  In their first matchup, the Hornets gave the Dons their first and only loss of the season, winning by a score of 2-0.
