Late Wild Pitch Gives Dons 5-4 Victory Over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA, Calif. – No. 5 Santa Ana saw its lead slip away in the seventh inning as the Orange Coast Pirates rallied for three runs, forcing the Dons to come back from a 4-3 deficit in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference game.

Jeana Gonzales led off the bottom of the seventh with a double to left center field to put the tying run at second. Following a walk from Drea DeFord and a pop up out, the Dons inserted Maddison Reddick to pinch hit in the biggest moment of the game.

Reddick got a pitch she liked and sent it into center field to score Gonzales and tie the game at 4-4. After pinch running for Reddick and advancing to third on a steal and a fielder's choice, Brandi Kirkpatrick sprinted home on a wild pitch to score the winning run for the Dons.

Back to back wins against the Pirates gives the Dons sole possession of third place in the OEC standings with a record of 18-8, 8-5.
