SAC Softball Stays Hot with Two Wins and a Walk-Off Over SCC

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Softball team has won four straight after taking both games in Wednesday's doubleheader against Santiago Canyon (7-11,7-11).

Santa Ana (10-5, 10-4) shutout the Hawks in game one, winning 4-0 to set the tone for the day. The Hawks made game two close but the Dons came up clutch in the end as they won on a sacrifice fly by Andrea Uriarte to score Airilin Ramirez, giving them a 2-1 walk-off victory.

Over the last four games, the Dons have relied on their defense as they've given up just four runs in total. Sophomore pitcher Emily Rosas has seemingly found her groove, recording wins in all four games and lowering her ERA to 1.39, which ranks eighth in the state.

She's had help behind her as the Dons gloves behind her have come up with some spectacular plays as of late. The insertion of Brianna Palmer in left field has paid huge dividends as the freshman from Tustin has been catching everything hit her way.

On the other side of the plate, Santa Ana has seen a number of players step up with Rosas again leading the way with 15 hits, eight runs batted in and a team high .429 batting average. Uriarte has been on fire as well, hitting .388 with 19 hits and six RBI's.

The Dons have also gotten a boost from Airilin Ramirez, Iyari Ramirez and Cecilia Sanchez who have come up with clutch hits throughout the season.

SAC now sits in a tie for second place with Cypress and trails Fullerton by just one game in the Orange Empire Conference standings. They'll finish this week's series on the road against the Hawks on Friday in another doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
