Dons Bounce Back to Shutout Riverside 8-0

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Softball jumped ahead with five runs in the bottom of the first inning and continued to add on throughout the game, resulting in an 8-0 win over the Riverside Tigers (6-7, 0-2) in Orange Empire Conference play on Wednesday afternoon. 

Airilin Ramirez and Alexis Rangel stayed hot at the plate as each went 2-of-3 on the day. Sarah Casey did damage in the middle of the Don lineup with two runs batted in and a walk while Jojo Westerfield earned her RBI with a game winning single in the fifth inning to force the mercy rule. 

On the mound, Emily Rosas got the start and the win after four and a third innings of work before being relieved by Amanda Mendoza, who held her own as she closed out the game with a scoreless two third innings. 

The Dons bounced back from their first loss of the season and improved to 10-1, 2-0 overall. They'll continue OEC play against Fullerton College (6-2-1, 2-0) on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
