Dons Set Several Personal Records in San Francisco Meet

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Track and Field teams headed up north to compete in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival Meet held from Mar. 31st through April 1st.

Santa Ana had several athletes on both the men and women's teams set personal records throughout the meet.

The Women – Day 1

5,000 Meter Event

Toni Lopez -  Finished the event with a time of 18:07.76, breaking her personal record of 18:42.66. Lopez led the race for 12 laps but was outsprinted in the last 200 meters and finished second in the fifth heat.

Lizbeth Luciano-Luis - Broke her personal record with a time of 18:55.54 and finished in 10th place in the fifth heat.

Lizeth Luciano-Luis - Set her personal recorded a time of 19:13.00 in the race and came in 19th place in the fifth heat.  

The Women – Day 2

Mile Event

Every Don hit a personal record in the mile event.

Toni Lopez -  Came in eighth place in the first heat with a time of 5:19.84.

Lizbeth Luciano-Luis - Recorded a time of 5:32.95, good for third place in the second heat.

Lizeth Luciano-Luis - Finished in fourth place in heat number with a time of 5:38.41.

Jazlyn Madrid - Took 12th place in the second heat, clocking in at 5:59.93.

400-Meter Event

Diana Giraldo - Posted a time of 1:09.71 to take third place in the sixth heat.

200-Meter Event

Cydnee Wallace - Placed fourth in heat number finishing at a time of 27.14.

Diana Giraldo - Hit a personal record with a time of 29.15, putting her in fourth place for the 12th heat.

 

The Men – Day 1

5,000 Meter Event

All the Dons hit personal records for the 5,000-meter event.

Paulino Sanchez - Came in eighth place in the fifth heat at a time of 14:57.45.

Eric Jimenez - Took third place in the seventh heat after posting a time of 15:22.73

Brian Ambrocio - Clocked in at 15:27.48 for a sixth place finish in heat seven.

Eduardo Guapilla -Placed 15th in heat seven with a time of 15:34.76.

Jeremiah Gill - Came in 14th place in heat eight with a time of 16:16.56.

Manuel Arjon – Recorded a time of 16:29.28 and finished in18th place in heat eight.

The Men – Day 2

100 Meter Event

Jason Oliver – Took fifth in heat six with a time of 11.72.

Jesus Lopez – Posted a time of 11.77 for a sixth-place finish in heat number two.

Mile Event

All but one Don hit personal records for the mile event.

Paulino Sanchez – Finished fifth in heat one with a time of 4:36.75.

Eric Jimenez -  Took seventh in heat two, posting a time of 4.35.48.

Brian Ambrocio – Placed third in heat three with a time of 4:37.19.

Eduardo Guapilla - Clocked in at 4:39.31 for fourth place in heat number three.

Jeremiah Gill – Came in sixth in heat three with a time of 4:43.79.

Manuel Arjon – Ran to a time of 4:43.88, good for seventh in heat three.

 

The Dons will wrap up the regular season on April 14th when they compete at Azusa Pacific University for the Bryan Clay Invitational. It will be the last event before the Orange Empire Conference Preliminaries starting on April 21st.
