Santa Ana Track & Field Competes at San Francisco State Distance Carnival

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Last weekend, the Santa Ana College Track & Field program traveled to San Francisco to compete against top NCAA Division I schools in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.

The Dons had a great time with many of their runners posting personal records in the exciting meet.

On the men's side, Malik Comford placed 15th out of 53 runners in the 100m sprints with a time of 11.20 while Denilson Santamaria hit his personal record in the 400m with a time of 52.46.

Sophomore's Eric Jimenez and Eduardo Guapilla both ran to personal records in the 1,500m event against tough competition. Jimenez won heat number 8 with a time of 15:00.86 and Gaupilla followed with a 12th place finish at 15:32.34.

Alexandria Owens continued to impress for the Don women, racing to the ninth fastest time in the 100m sprint with a time of 12.77. In the 800m, Monique Azpeitia set her new personal record at 2:29.25 while Daisy Tellez did the same in the 1 mile event with a 6:33.12 finish.

Next up for the Dons is the Cerritos Invitational on Friday, April 13th. Shortly after, they will head to the OEC Prelims at Riverside City on Friday, April 20th.
