Trujillo Leads Dons in OEC Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - On Friday, the Santa Ana Men's Track & Field team traveled to Riverside for the 2022 Orange Empire Conference Invitational. The Dons placed sixth as a team due to primarily competing in track events.

All four team points came from freshman standout Aldo Trujillo, who placed 5th (2:05.64) in the 1500 meter event for the highest SAC finish of the day. 

Trujillo also finished 11th (2:05.64) in the 800 meter race, clocking in just behind teammate Diego Espinoza, who earned the 10th place finish with a time of 2:05.636.

Jesus Retiguin (17th at 2:12.05), Luis Salmeron (23rd at 2:25.34) and Pablo Chavez (24th at 2:30.39) also represented Santa Ana in the 800 meter event as well. 

The Dons had a couple members of the team who competed in the 200M dash as well as field events. Eder Diaz clocked in at 25.88 in the 200 for 34th place while taking 13th in the long jump with a mark of 5.70m. 

Isaac Ortiz was right behind Diaz in the 200 as he posted a time of 26.04 for 35th place. Ortiz added an 11th place finish in the javelin throw, recording a 30.58m mark as the lone Don in the event. 

Santa Ana will continue its season with the Long Beach Opener set for March 4th at Jack Rose Track on the campus of Long Beach State.
