Talavou Scores to Win in Final Game in Home Tournament

The Dons won their final game in their host tournament against San Diego Mesa 86-63. The Dons (7-3) held off the Olympians (2-7) during the entire consolation game.

Sophomore Jen Ventura from El Dorado High School opened the game with a three-point jump shot. During the entire game, Jen Ventura made four out of six three-point shots and totaled 18 points for the Santa Ana College. Sophomore Blaysen Varnadoe went on to score eight points in the first quarter to hold back San Diego Mesa 21-14.

During the first half, Varnadoe tallied four more points and sophomore Lauren Fruto and freshman Amy Talavou each scored six points for the Dons.

Amy Talavou could not be stopped in the second half. She scored six points in a row and then totaled 18 points to lead the Dons to the win. Talavou also led the team with eight rebounds. Sophomore Alysia Gamboa had six assists to seal the win for the Dons 86-63.

Blaysen Varnadoe , who scored 56 points during the entire tournament, was named to the All-Team Tournament.

Merced College defeated West Hills College-Lemoore 60-54 to win third place before Bakersfield College defeated Moorpark College 77-75 in double overtime to take the Championship game.
