Dons Stumble at Home, Fall to Fullerton 65-41

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In Friday's Orange Empire Conference rematch against Fullerton College, the Santa Ana women's basketball team was defeated 65-41.

The Dons showed a lot of fight as they stayed in the game and even cut the lead to six (41-35) with 5:28 left in the third quarter. But the Hornets made their run shortly after that, pulling away for the win.

On a positive note, the Dons got solid performances out of three of its sophomores with Angela Rodriguez, Cailey Vitug and Sally Morris all making an impact.

Rodriguez earned her eighth start of the season and made the most of it with eight points and nine rebounds (7 offensive) in 21 minutes. Vitug came off the bench in this one but still played 27 minutes, going 2-6 for five points, five assists and three rebounds while Morris spread the court for the Dons with a team high two made threes in just seven minutes of action.

BY THE NUMBERS

The Don's shooting woes continued as they finished with a 25.4 (18-71) field goal percentage and a 25 (2-8) percent free throw percentage. Santa Ana managed to stay tied with the Hornets in the rebounding category (50-50) but turned over the ball 14 times compared to just 10 for their opponent.

On Tuesday, the Dons will go on the road to face Cypress College at 7:00 p.m. before returning home for Sophomore Night on Thursday, February 14th at 7:00 p.m.
