Offensive Woes Continue as SAC Women’s Basketball Falls to GWC 71-54

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Women's Basketball continued to struggle offensively as the Dons fell to the Golden West Rustlers (11-9, 1-6) by a score of 71-54 on Monday night.

Although SAC started the night off with a 21 point first quarter in which they shot 43.8 percent with three three-pointers, they could not seem to knock down shots with consistency.

Freshman guard Sophia Escalante posted a team high 13 points to go along with eight boards while Heather Matthews (11) and Nicole Robles (10) joined her in double digits.

The Dons also got a boost from Crystal Moreno, who recorded 13 rebounds and nine points in just her second start of the season.

As a team, Santa Ana finished the night shooting just 25.8 (16-62) percent from the field and 22.2 (4-18) from three point range.

Next up, the Dons will be back at home on Wednesday to host Riverside in another OEC matchup. SAC is 0-2 against the Tigers this season after dropping a game 70-68 in overtime on January 31st.
