SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Women's Soccer team played its first official match since November of 2019 as the Dons hosted the LA Valley Monarchs in the season opener on Friday afternoon. 

After a hard fought 90 minutes, SAC fell to the Monarchs by a score of 1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored in the 54th minute by LA Valley's Adriana Martinez, who crossed a ball that went just over the top of SAC's goalkeeper Jasmine Garcia to find the net. 

Garcia played all 90 minutes and recorded six saves to keep the Dons in the match. 

Santa Ana did have opportunities to score and even things up late but just could not finish in key moments. 

The Dons will be back in action on Tuesday to host Cuyamaca at 2:00 p.m. The match will be livestreamed on the SAC Athletics Youtube Channel.
