Garcia Saves PK to Give Dons 1-1 Draw Against Golden West

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Women's Soccer hosted the Golden West Rustlers (3-3-5, 2-1-1) on Friday afternoon for another Orange Empire Conference contest.

Freshman midfielder Cecilia Salmeron scored her first goal of the season to give the Dons an early lead when she put away a cross from Wendy Millan in the 17th minute.

The Don lead remained intact until the 75th minute, as Golden West chipped in a goal off a rebound to even things up.

Golden West stayed on the attack and looked like they were going to sneak out with a win after forcing a penalty kick in the 87th minute.

But SAC goalkeeper Jasmine Garcia came up big with a diving save to keep the score a 1-1 to end the match.

Santa Ana now sits at a record of 2-4-3, 0-2-2 headed into a matchup with Nol 2 ranked Cypress (7-0-1) on Tuesday, October 12th.
