Santa Ana Baseball Comes Back to Win 15-13 Over No. 14 Glendale

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The No. 1 ranked Santa Ana Baseball team refused to go down in yesterday's non-conference game against No. 14 Glendale.

Both teams had big run innings early on but the Vaqueros seemed to put the nail in the coffin after building a 13-9 lead with the game headed into the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Dons responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning with Thomas Williams and Ryann Stock driving in a run a piece.

Emmanuel Niebla and Sergio Cazares combined to get the much needed scoreless inning in the eighth to give the Dons a chance with time running out.

SAC picked up where they left off in the eighth and drew three straight walks to load the bases, putting some serious pressure on a Glendale team that saw their lead dwindle to two runs.

After a pitching change and a couple stalling tactics by the Vaqueros, the Dons cashed in with a walk followed by a hit by pitch to tie the game at 13-13.

Glendale continued their attempts to stall, hoping that losing daylight would revert the score back to what it was before the inning started. But the Dons managed to pick up two more runs on an Edward Morales sacrifice fly and an error on a failed pick off attempt before Cedrick Perez intentionally struck out to end the inning and secure the win.

Santa Ana improves to 14-1-1 with the win while Glendale sits at 10-4 overall. The series will conclude at Glendale on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
