SAC Football Home Opener Preview

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana football is looking for its first win of the 2019 season after opening with a 80-48 loss on the road against San Bernardino in week one. The Santa Ana offense seemed to be in mid-season form as they put up 448 yards of total offense and scored 48 points.

Sophomore quarterback Luke Wilson recorded six touchdowns in the air, breaking a school record which was held by five other Dons dating back to 2000. His favorite receiver, sophomore Joshua Rice, also had a career night with 226 yards and four touchdown receptions. Rice tied the record for touchdown receptions in a game, a record that was set in 2007 by Matt Cardenas.

Although the Santa Ana offense was clicking on all cylinders, they struggled to stop the surging SBVC Wolverines. San Bernardino Valley broke four individual records and six team records on their way to the win. They were led by quarterback Jeremy Moussa, who threw for seven touchdowns and 636 yards.

On Saturday, the Dons will host the Antelope Valley Marauders in week two of the 2019 season. In week one, AVC escaped with a 27-21 win over Glendale College. The Marauders were up 27-14 until Glendale scored late to make it a game. After Glendale failed to recover an onside kick, Antelope Valley took a knee and walked away with their first win of the season.

In last year's matchup against AVC, the Dons pulled away for a 37-6 win. They hope for a similar result in this one.
