Late COD Header Leads to 1-1 Tie for SAC Men’s Soccer

SANTA ANA, Calif. - In their final match before Orange Empire Conference play, the Santa Ana Men's Soccer team finished in a 1-1 tie against the College of the Desert Roadrunners on Tuesday afternoon.

Although the Dons possessed the ball for most of the game, tallying up 12 corner kicks and 14 shots, they only managed to score in the 66th minute on a penalty kick from sophomore midfielder Jesse Mancilla

With time running out in the second half, the Dons attempted to hold the ball until the final whistle but Desert had other plans. In one of their last possible possessions, the Roadrunners drew a foul and sent a ball into the box to Rosario Ramirez. Jr. headed a ball into the top left corner of the goal to tie the score at 1.

The game would end just a few seconds later, giving Santa Ana a record of 4-2-3 overall before starting conference play.

SAC will go on the road to face Irvine Valley (5-3) on Tuesday, September 27th at 3:00 p.m.
