Santa Ana Shuts Out Orange Coast 4-0 for First OEC Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Dons Men's Soccer team earned its first win in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play with a 4-0 shutout against the Orange Coast Pirates (5-6, 2-1) on Friday afternoon. 

Santa Ana (5-3-4, 1-1-1) played with a sense of urgency from the opening whistle as they continuously put pressure on the Pirate defense with 13 shots in the first half. 

Sophomore forward Josue Martinez cashed in on one of those shots to give the Dons a 1-0 lead at the 13 minute mark.  

The Dons carried the lead and momentum into the second half where they executed offensively to push the game out of the Pirates reach. 

In his first start of the season, freshman forward Diego Alvarado scored the Dons second goal of the match in the 50th minute on a pass from fellow freshman Masonn Carillo

Just eight minutes later, sophomore midfielder Jesse Mancilla put away another goal to make it a 3-0 game. 

Lucas Caceres capped the scoring for SAC with their fourth goal of the match at the 70 minute mark. 

The Dons totaled 19 shots on the day while holding OCC to just three. With the win, Santa Ana finds themselves in fifth place in the OEC standings. 

Santa Ana will be back at home for their match against Cypress (5-3-3, 2-1) on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
